Naja... das wird Jack wohl nicht verstehen, was Ihr hier schreibt...! @Jack: skip the german part, I wrote some lines for you below... Soweit mir bekannt, bedeutet ein verkauf an Märklin/ Kingsbridge den Ausverkauf von LGB. Die wollen doch keine Arbeitsplätze erhalten. Interesse besteht da nur an der Marke (lt. Schöntag) und das scheint mir sehr plausibel. Dass Märklin/ Kingsbridge da irgendwas besser machen würde als der von Jack vorgeschlagene Investor... glaube ich nicht. Im Gegenteil. Auch Piko wäre beileibe kein Garant für ein weiteres Bestehen von LGB gewesen (dafür ist Piko nicht groß genug). Fakten wissen/ kennen tut natürlich niemand ausser den direkt Beteiligten. Das wenige was Schöntag Preis gegeben hat, unterstützt diese Auffassung und ich neige dazu, Schöntag zu glauben. Er will sicher auch Geld verdienen (oder wenigstens nicht allzuviel davon verlieren) und ich denke er kann die Intentionen der Gläubiger am Besten einschätzen. Jedenfalls fällt mir dafür niemand qualifizierterer ein als er, schließlich ist er wohl seit 3 Monaten am Rotieren, sucht und spricht mit potentiellen Investoren. Die Frage bei solchen Deals ist wohl immer, wer am Ende das Sagen hat. Im Falle der Wöhrl/ LGBoA Gruppierung ist das nicht bekannt. Schöntag wäre da ja sicher auch noch dabei, er hat schon investiert. LGB dann auf einen Schatten seiner selbst oder die reine Marke zu reduzieren, das kann LGBoA dann nicht "einfach so" machen, falls dies überhaupt deren Ziel sein sollte (man muss ja nicht immer das Schlimmste annehmen, auch wenn man damit meistens gut fährt). Ich hoffe nach wie vor auf einen positiven Ausgang, wobei mMn dies kein Deal mit Märklin/Kingsbridge sein würde (und daher alle Alternativen als "besser" einschätze). Now for our foreign guest: I'll try to translate what I wrote above and what other participants in this thread wrote to your proposal. First of all, most of the participants in this thread seem to dislike the option to join LGB with LGBoA and Whörl (well, don't forget Mr. Schöntag, he is definitly on board as he already invested some Euros). Otter's post reviewed the past of LGB and its pricing-strategy. I also agree with Otter1, when he says that LGB products in the US have been much cheaper to buy than they where in Germany. So one could say we "supported" cheaper sales in US by raising the prices in Europe. If you took a look at our prices here the past few years and compared it what you payed for the same item over there, you will have to agree to this opinion (well, I think it's a fact). So this is one point, why the idea of joing with LGBoA is not really loved. Nobody believes that pricing will be more fair than it was before. Thorsten J. was amused about the fact that companies that are in financial troubles should be saved by the customers by adding some pressure to those that could decide about such a deal... if any company would cause such "collateral damage" it would be worse (Deutsche Bank). Well, I don't really agree with him, because this is not any company, its about LGB that I would compare with e.g. Ferrari if it would be about cars. I think there would be many responds if Ferrari would be next to be closed. On the other hand, if a company that produces nails is to be closed, nobody but the employees (with families) would bother about that, because the product is nothing special, the company is nothing special... I hope everyone knows what I try to say... Dieter B thinks that its uncertain how long the production will be kept in Nürnberg if Whörl/LGBoA will take over the lead. Well, as I pointed out before, I think this cannot be answered (but I think it would not be that easy). I think it is the best option up to now. I am trusting Mr. Schöntags words, when he says that the other Group (Märklin/Kingsbridge) is only interested in the brand "LGB" and not into keeping the site Nürnberg going and producing as it did before. Mr. Schöntag is of the opinion that they (Märklin/ Kongsbridge) would fire most of the employees.
